Root Canal Treatment (Endodontics) Oatley
DELAY EXTRACTING YOUR TOOTH FOR MANY YEARS MORE
WHAT IS ROOT CANAL TREATMENT?
Root canal treatment (endodontics) allows you to keep a tooth that would normally need to be extracted due to extensive decay into the nerves (pulp) of the tooth that has caused the tooth to die. If the dead tooth is left untreated, bacteria begin to infiltrate and cause a dental abscess and severe pain for the patient.
DO I NEED ROOT CANAL TREATMENT?
If you are in severe dental pain, that is constant without a stimulus like cold water, then your tooth could be dying, and you could need a root canal treatment or extraction. Other symptoms include facial or gum swelling, and pain when touching or tapping the tooth.
